Special Needs Parenting

Parenting a child with developmental, learning, or behavioral differences can feel overwhelming, isolating, and at times all-consuming — especially when you’re constantly navigating school systems, services, and advocacy.

I work with parents who are managing advocacy fatigue, complex family dynamics, and the ongoing emotional weight of caregiving. Therapy offers a space where you can process these experiences openly, feel understood without judgment, and begin to find more sustainable ways to support both your child and yourself.

Special Needs Parenting Calls for Specialized Support

Parenting a child with developmental or behavioral differences can change every part of your life — your daily routines, your relationships, your sense of identity, and your expectations for the future. It can be deeply meaningful, and also exhausting, isolating, and overwhelming in ways that others may not fully understand.

Many parents find themselves navigating complex school and healthcare systems, advocating constantly, and carrying layers of stress, grief, anxiety, and responsibility — often without enough support. At the same time, there are moments of deep connection, pride, and love that deserve space too.

In our work together, we make room for all of it. Therapy offers a place to process the emotional weight of caregiving, work through burnout and advocacy fatigue, and navigate challenges like school concerns, transitions, relationship strain, and identity shifts.

As both a therapist and someone deeply connected to the special needs parenting community, I offer a space where these experiences are genuinely understood. You don’t have to explain or justify how hard this is.

This kind of parenting can become isolating, and it’s not meant to be done alone. Building a circle of support is essential — for both you and your child. Therapy can be one place where you feel more supported, more grounded, and better able to move through this experience with clarity and steadiness.

You deserve support in this, too.
